Canary Lee Burton Spreads Her Wings With Stanford Who's Who

CAPE COD, MA, May 21, 2011 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Stanford Who's Who welcomes Canary Lee Burton to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of her magnificent work in the Music Industry. As a Composer and Owner of Seabird Studio for the past 15 years, as well as throughout her brilliant professional career, Canary has consistently displayed the vision, dedication and diligence necessary to be considered among the best.
Canary has been a composer of jazz, classical and electronic music since the 1970's. She has performed concerts in various places including Carnegie Hall in New York City. Between 1975 and 1989 she led four groups playing original compositions and old standards as well as performing as a solo pianist at clubs and restaurants. Canary also served as a Music and Piano Teacher from 1976-2000, teaching composing, theory, reading, study habits, recording and style.
During her collegiate career, Canary earned a Bachelor's degree in Music from the University of Idaho. She studied jazz styles with Kevin Toney, an original member of the Blackbyrds of Howard University from 1980 to 1981. From 1988 to 1989, Canary studied technique with David Sussman, a teacher at the Berklee College of Music. She went on to study composition with John Zielinski from 1990 to 1992. From there, Canary studied composition with Rodney Lister at the New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts in 1995.
Canary also serves as a Disc Jockey of the radio program, The Latest Score, on WOMR FM in Provincetown, Massachusetts. She is a member of the International Alliance of Women in Music and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
