NEW YORK, NY, December 6, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Stephen I. Whitley, Music Teacher for The New York City Department of Education, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in music education.
As an educator with nearly two decades of professional experience, Mr. Whitley specializes in music trivia, vocal performance and musical direction. He utilizes his expertise in his position as a music teacher for The New York City Department of Education. In this role, he is tasked with developing curriculum and teaching music to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. He also conducts graduation performances, chorus and performance concerts. Mr. Whitley's work was formally recognized in 2010 when he was named a VIP of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional goals. Mr. Whitley attributes his success to his determination, drive, creativity and ability to stay updated with changes in the industry.
Mr. Whitley graduated from Columbia University's Teachers College in 2004 with a Master of Music Education. He previously earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in vocal performance from City College. Mr. Whitley also holds a permenant certificate to teach music in elementary shool from the State of New York and certificates in business mathematics, English, typing, word processing and secretarial science from the OIC of America. He is affiliated with The Metropolitan Greek Chorale, United Federation of Teachers, and the American Federation of Teachers.
