Record Store Day Gets 'Back to Black' on the Biggest Shopping Day of the Year
This year, on Black Friday, Record Store Day will celebrate its second semi-annual event by releasing a number of limited edition albums on the day after Thanksgiving, giving fans the chance to get some exclusive vinyl this holiday season.

DOYLESTOWN, PA, November 12, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Record Store Day, an event that has taken place in April since 2008, is now solidifying its presence on the busiest shopping day of the year by adding, for the second year in a row, an additional date on Black Friday. This year, on November 25th, artists from The Beatles to The Red Hot Chili Peppers will release exclusive albums that will only be available for a limited time as a part of the promotion.

The "Back to Black" event is a part of a movement, by artists and fans alike, to preserve the format of vinyl, and everything that it represents to the music community as a whole. Having been worried about the effect of digital music on the industry, independent music retailers have reported that sales of vinyl have actually increased over the last couple of years, in part thanks to this event and what it represents.

From a business point of view, it makes sense to expand and take on another day of the year for the cause, and what better day to choose than the single busiest shopping day of the year, and the official kick-off for holiday shopping?

"The Record Store Day people were always looking for a second day to balance out the year," stated Jim Henderson, manger of Los Angeles based, Amoeba Records.

Artists are gathering behind the movement to strengthen the hold vinyl has on the industry, and with each passing year, more and more exclusive albums are released just for the event, and with the second date now added to the schedule, it just gives them more incentive to put out new music as a thank you to their fans, by giving something back for all of their support.

All of the items that will be released for the "Back to Black" event will be limited to significantly smaller runs than your average album, so head out to your local record store to see what they are planning, because when they're gone, they're gone, and this is something that any true music fan will go out of their way to be a part of.
