Metropolitan Opera Singer Ryan Allen to Appear in New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera's Tosca
Metropolitan Opera singer Ryan Allen joins the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera to perform Sacristan in the company's October 16th production of Tosca at 3:00 p.m. at the BergenPAC in Englewood, New Jersey.

FORT LEE, NJ, October 02, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Metropolitan Opera singer Ryan Allen returns this season to perform the role of Sacristan in the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera's (Verismo Opera) upcoming production of Giacomo Puccini's grand opera, Tosca. Verismo Opera, under Metropolitan Opera star and Artistic Director Lucine Amara, kicks off the 2011-2012 performing season of Love, Tragedy, and Suicide with Tosca, one of Puccini's most popular, suspenseful operas, on October 16 at 3 p.m. at the BergenPAC, 30 North Van Brunt St. in Englewood, New Jersey.


Ryan Allen's Work

Allen, a bass, performed the King of Egypt in Verismo Opera's triumphant spring 2011 production of Aida. He made his Metropolitan Opera debut as Hans Foltz in Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg in 1993. Among his previous engagements is Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia for the Indianapolis Opera, Manitoba Opera, Opera Memphis, New Jersey State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera Guild and several others. He has appeared as Candy in Of Mice and Men with the Florentine Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Opera Grand Rapids and Edmonton Opera; and Don Magnifico in La cenerentola with the Utah Opera, Connecticut Opera and Utah Festival Opera.

Originally from Texas, he debuted at Carnegie Hall as the bass soloist in the Mozart Requiem for the Manhattan Philharmonic in 1989. He holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
