NBC'S The Sing Off Season 2 Contestant Releases First Single

EUGENE, OR, January 24, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The first single from tenor Peter Hollens, wildly popular "The Sing Off" soloist with the University of Oregon's On The Rocks a cappella group, has gone viral, with more than 20,000 views in just four days and 3,000 shares on Facebook. Both the single a cappella cover of Rihanna's What's My Name/Only Girl and the video were released January 14.

Hollens' first professional studio recording is a collaborative remix of multiple layered sounds fabricated by Hollens' voice and mouth, including drums, beat boxing, bass, synthesizers and harmonies.

"'The Sing Off' has helped established a cappella as a mainstream music genre," said Hollens, "It proves to the American public as well as CEOs and executives of recording labels that the demand is out
there for modern a cappella talent."

ACR, the first all-digital record label for a cappella, released Hollens' single on iTunes; his next single, produced by 'Glee' and 'Sing Off' track engineer/producer Ed Boyer, is scheduled for release in mid-February. He will also do a duet with Committed lead singer Therry Thomas in the upcoming months.

A performer and producer with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Oregon, Hollens founded On the Rocks and the production company Peter Hollens Productions. On the Rocks completed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, and garnered numerous Contemporary A Cappella Records award
nominations and wins.

Hollens has received outstanding soloist awards and was a featured soloist on "The Sing Off" with songs "Live Your Life" and "Kyrie." He also had a stint with Boston-based professional vocal band Ball in the House, and has performed in many other venues, locally, nationally and internationally.
